Description: The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation’s annual gala, “A Night at the Museum-15th Anniversary Gala.” Business attire. This year’s gala will focus on the 15th Anniversary of the Vietnam Era Museum & Educational Center. We are honoring three New Jersey Governors who, during their terms in office, made significant and historical decisions which led to the creation of the New Jersey Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial and Vietnam Era Museum and Educational Center. Without their belief in the project, their conviction to see it through completion, and their continued support, we would not be here to celebrate this 15th anniversary.

Description: Dr. Phillip J. Briggs to lecture. The decision to go to war has remained of great importance in the making of US foreign policy. During the Vietnam War Era, this decision became especially conflict-ridden between the President and Congress, prompting Congress to pass the War Powers Resolution in an effort to curtail Presidential power. However, new commitments of the armed forces to combat kept this issue in the forefront and the terror attack of 9/11 brought war itself to American shores. This talk will illuminate these developments.
Dr. Briggs is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. He is also the former Executive Director of the Research Committee on Armed Forces and Society at the International Political Science Association. Regular Museum admission applies to this program.
