From Wednesday through Sunday, July 27 to 31, hearts and minds throughout the area will be focused on Freehold for the return of the annual Monmouth County Fair. The fair is celebrating 42 years as one of most anticipated events of the summer.
Fair chairman Bill O’Shaughnessy says, “The fair allows the whole family to create memories together. Parents of younger children will love the Kids’ Zone Rides. Fairgoers of all ages will be thrilled by the trapeze act High Flying Pages and the returning favorites, Bwana Jim and Robinson’s Racing Pigs. We’re also adding food trucks to our traditional fair food offerings.”
Other highlights include acts such as Mutts Gone Nuts, Scott’s Crazy Comedy Magic Show, and Hilby the Skinny German Juggle Boy. Fireworks fans will enjoy a dazzling show on opening night and the fair is sure to be full of 4-H displays of award-winning animals, home and garden competitions, and a produce stand with straight-from-the-garden delights.
Music lovers can enjoy the Amish Outlaws on Wednesday night, Dr. Cheeko on Thursday night, Rockit Count Basie Live on Friday night, Jet Weston and His Atomic Ranch Hands on Saturday night, and The Chuck Lambert Band on Sunday.
For $25, unlimited ride wristbands will be available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
This fair is very well organized, with plenty of rest areas, maps, and cordial volunteers. Be sure to use the very efficient free shuttle buses that take you right to the front entrance and away from the traffic at the end of your visit.
The Monmouth County Fair, held at the East Freehold Showground, is presented by the Monmouth County Park System in cooperation with the Monmouth County 4-H Associations.
