SAINT LEO THE GREAT SCHOOL WELCOMES STUDENTS AND CHANGE
September 3 marked the first official day of school at Saint Leo the Great. The students were greeted by Principal Cornelius Begley, Vice Principal Deirdre Senkewicz, and Pastor Reverend John Folchetti. Among them was newly appointed Parochial Vicar Father Richard Vila. All students were welcomed back with open arms by the administration and staff. The children were all smiles during their greetings and looked eager to start another exciting school year. Sixth grader Sophia Gana stated, “I’m excited about school this year because I’m starting middle school and I get to be with my friends again.”
Saint Leo the Great kicked off the school year by announcing its newly established additions and renovations. Due to popular interest in the school and a high enrollment rate, the school has added an additional class to the first and fourth grades. This allowed Saint Leo the Great School to accommodate new families seeking enrollment, while keeping a responsible student-to-teacher ratio. Also, a new library media center was devised. It’s equipped with today’s modern technology that will aid the students’ ability to research, assess, and utilize educational information effectively and safely. Principal Begley concluded, “We are proud of our achievements from last year and look forward to raising the bar for the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of our students this year.”
