Saint James School second graders chose to support the Ronald McDonald House of Long Branch as part of their Community Service Project. The children made posters, asking for donations for the charity that they championed. The children were able to fill three large bags and made three beautiful baskets. Some of the items collected were paper goods, toiletries, snacks, breakfast cereals, and arts and crafts supplies. While also providing these donations, Saint James School had a school-wide dress down to raise money and awareness for this cause.
The Ronald McDonald House provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with seriously ill children being treated at area hospitals, and allows families to spend more time together when it matters most – which helps children heal better and faster. One second grade girl remarked, “It felt so good when I donated all the supplies to help others in need and it’s the right thing to do.”
