QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AFFORDABLE PRICES SPELL RECIPE FOR SUCCESS AT L&M AUTO CENTER  By Tony Senk

When Lenny and Marie Cardone opened the L&M Auto Center in Union, New Jersey back in 1966, they could not have imagined how, years later, their sons, now managers of the L&M Auto Center in Lincroft, would so successfully court countless scores of satisfied customers in and around Monmouth County. Marie still owns the Lincroft business, but her sons, Leonard and Michael, are the “L” and the “M” in the L&M Auto Center these days — and they have been since the auto repair shop opened in 1985. From the November day the shop opened that year, Leonard and Michael have continued to carry on the longstanding tradition of their family-owned business — a tradition of honesty and integrity that has earned them the trust, confidence, and loyalty of many customers in Lincroft, the surrounding communities, and beyond!

“One of our loyal customers,” said Michael, “Melody from Manhattan, made us a plaque to express her appreciation for our work over the years. We have it hanging in the office. She still drives here from Manhattan so we can change the oil in her car.”

For Leonard and Michael, car repair is in their blood. “We grew up in the business, and have known about cars and car repair since we were eight years old,” said Michael. “I guess it’s only natural that we’d get into that line of work.”

The 10 automotive service excellence (ASE) certified technicians at the L&M Auto Center — only one of whom has been with them for less than 15 years — can do it all, from completing a routine oil change to diagnosing and fixing the most complicated and complex engine or transmission problem, and they can do it for the make and model of any vehicle, whether it be domestic or foreign. They frequently attend training courses to further enhance their skills and knowledge and keep up-to-date on the latest repair techniques. Repairs at the L&M Auto Center include wheel alignments, front end repair, warning light diagnostics, fuel injection service and repair, tune-ups, electrical system diagnosis, battery and charging system diagnosis, cooling system service and repair, exhaust systems, transmission service, windshield and glass replacement, and towing and roadside assistance. The L&M Auto Center also offers local pickup and delivery of their customers’ vehicles to their home or their office.

“Our customers, their families, and friends have come to depend on our honesty and integrity, which has enabled us to maintain and grow this business,” said Michael. “We welcome new customers to try our shop and experience the same high level of service that our present customers have come to expect from us. Now, we have generations of customers that come from the same family; customers who first came here being pushed in a baby carriage, and are now coming here driving their own car!”

Longtime community-minded individuals, Michael and Leonard regularly donate used vehicles to the Colts Neck, Tinton Falls, and Red Bank Fire and EMS Departments for use in their training programs, as well as vehicles for use in the DARE programs at Colts Neck High School and Monmouth Regional High School.
