October is full of terrific programs at the Oceanic Library. There is something interesting for every age, including many very entertaining Totally Awesome Tuesdays for grades K and up. All programs are held at 3:45 p.m. Registration is mandatory and parents must remain in library. Come on out and join in the fun.
Raise the Roof Fundraiser
The Oceanic Library hosted its Raise the Roof fundraiser on Sunday, September 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The fundraiser honored Joe Hemphill of Hemphill Construction, who was involved with building the library’s new and much-needed roof last year.
The fabled Sea Bright Lawn Tennis & Cricket Club in Rumson provided an amazing backdrop for more than 200 guests who enjoyed food, entertainment, and great company. J. McLaughlin held a boutique and donated a portion of sales back to the library. High school students and local moms modeled the fashions and encouraged people to bid on auction items.
The Oceanic Library is not part of the Monmouth County Library System and, therefore, is privately funded. It was donated to the people of Rumson by the Meeker family in memory of their son, William Henry, a Harvard graduate, aviator, and patriot, who died on September 11, 1917 while training for World War I. He was 23 years old.
