Dr. Ryan James Brandau, Artistic Director of the Monmouth Civic Chorus, will be one of the conductors of the New Jersey Choral Consortium “Big Sing” of the Brahms Requiem on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the air-conditioned United Methodist Church, 247 Broad Street, Red Bank, New Jersey. The admission fee of $10 (students $5) at the door includes refreshments and score loan. No advance reservations are needed.
The music for the evening will be Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms, one of the best-loved pieces of choral music in the world. Registration will open at 6:30. A conversation about the piece will begin at 7:00 with the Big Sing to follow at 7:30. Conducting will be shared by Dennis Boyle of Philomusica, Marina Alexander of Arcadian Chorale, and Dr. Ryan James Brandau of Monmouth Civic Chorus and Princeton Pro Musica. The Big Sing will be an opportunity to meet and sing with choir members from all over the state. The New Jersey Choral Consortium is an association created to help choral organizations in New Jersey develop and grow by sharing information, fostering cooperation and supporting choral arts education. The Consortium currently has 35 member choruses from all over New Jersey, representing choirs of all types and sizes—mixed, women’s, men’s, professional, and children’s choirs.
