Muslim Scholar Bilal Ibrahim to speak at Congregation B’nai Israel in Rumson

As we witness the effects of ethnic violence today, it is heartening to be reminded that true religious collaboration has existed among the three major monotheistic religions.

What is the history of this unprecedented cooperation between Jews, Christians and Muslims?  In his talk, Professor Bilal Ibrahim will describe an earlier period in Islamic history when philosophers, scientists and theologians exchanged knowledge and scholarship to advance their understanding of the world.

Dr. Ibrahim received his PhD from McGill University and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley.  He is currently on the faculty of Brooklyn College, where he is a member of the History Department.  On March 13, Professor Ibrahim will speak on: “The Eastern Philosophical Tradition: Jewish, Christian & Muslim Dialogue in the Islamic World.”

The lecture is free and open to the public. Bagels, cake and coffee will be served.  Advance registration is requested.  Please go to www.cbirumson.org.
