Monmouth County Board of Catholic Charities Holds Third Annual Oktoberfest to Benefit Programs for Children and Families

The Monmouth County Board of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, will host their third annual Oktoberfest on Friday, October 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Spring Lake Tap House in Spring Lake Heights. Funds raised at this year’s Oktoberfest will benefit Catholic Charities’ programs dedicated to assisting children and families in Monmouth County.

Services ranging from addiction treatment, transitional housing, and counseling for those challenged by emotional and behavioral difficulties to disaster response for survivors of Superstorm Sandy are available through various Catholic Charities’ programs. All Monmouth County residents in need of assistance, regardless of religious affiliation, are eligible for these programs. More than 90 cents of every dollar raised by the Monmouth County Board of Catholic Charities goes directly toward funding these programs.

Oktoberfest event co-chairperson and Monmouth County Board of Catholic Charities fundraising chair Valarie DeFelice of Colts Neck said, “Our goal this year is to raise a minimum of $30,000 to help support the programs that are focused on assisting children and families.” Ms. DeFelice’s co-chair is Kathleen Gilly of Brielle. “We are inviting local businesses and individuals to support this worthwhile event and lend their support to the members of our community that truly need hope restored,” Ms. Gilly added.

To date, the following local businesses have committed their support of Oktoberfest: Beach Haus Brewery in Point Pleasant Beach and Colts Neck-based 4JG’s Orchards & Vineyards will be the exclusive beer and wine sponsors, Circle BMW in Eatontown will be the valet parking underwriter, Spring Lake Tap House will serve plentiful hors d’ oeuvres, and Turnpike Mike will perform live. Festive autumn-themed decorations will be provided by Barlow’s Flower Farm in Sea Girt. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, contact Sponsor Committee co-chair Bob Powderly at
