The PAPJC artists have become a family of New Jersey residents who gather in a different location each week to share the joy of the trade. They encourage each other and share information from over eleven years of experience painting together at the New Jersey Shore. Outside inspiration is what drives them to continue to discover new and wonderful locations to improve their craft. This year with all the twists and turns of the Sandy disaster, many of them explored new subjects and traveled to new locations from the Atlantic Coast of Maine to Florida to Puerto Rico and even to the Pacific.
The PAPJC artists participating in the exhibition include:
Donna Zimmerman Arvelo, Kathleen Beausoleil, Dianne Bollerman, Patricia Corboy, Ann Danieli, Ann Ferguson, Barbara Grena, Hema Gupta, JoAnn Jordan, Caroline L. Klein, Catherine Love, Mimi McCabe, Anthony Migliaccio, Nessa Neilson Morse, Grace O’Connor, Rosemary Pappa, Frank Sparandera, Judy Stach, Kuni Strange, C. Frank Urmey, Marg Vail and Fran Wood
Information on the Paintings
Judy Stach’s oil painting, After the Rain, which depicts a young child feeding the gulls at the shore, was painted one week prior to the storm. It is with joy that she can report this sight has returned however several of the jetty rocks were moved to newer locations.
Anthoy Migliaccio’s oil painting, River Watch, shows a sunset view from Sea Bright looking west up the Navesink River.
Nessa Neilson Morse’s pastel painting, Castle Rock Light, was painted farther afield and is of a well known light house at the entrance to harbor in Newport , RI.
About the Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast (PAPJC)
The PAPJC is an organization of local artists which meets each week at an outdoor location, such as one of the Monmouth County Parks, to enjoy and paint the lovely local scenery. The organization was formed in 2003 and has grown to over fifty official members, while many more join the group from time to time to paint at one of the locations. Each year the group helps sponsor a number of shows to help support local organizations and charity activities. The PAPJC supports an ongoing special gallery with permanent and rotating artwork at the Jacqueline Wilentz Breast Center of the Monmouth Medical Center. Membership in the PAPJC is open to all who enjoy painting in the outdoors. If you are interested in painting with us, please visit www.thepapjc.com for more information.
