Be healthy with the help of the County Connection

Free seminars and programs offered throughout the month

The Monmouth County Connection is focusing on health in the coming week with their two workshops, entitled “Healthy Homes” and “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s,” and offering a flu clinic. The Monmouth County Connection is located at 3544 State Highway 66, Neptune.

A workshop entitled “Healthy Homes” will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to noon. Learn how to make your home safe for you and your family. Find out the dangers of cleaning agents, lead in homes and toys, and what may be in your home that irritates your asthma. This workshop can change your life.

Following the “Healthy Homes” workshop, a flu shot clinic will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. At the flu shot clinic on Oct. 23, attendees will pay $25 for the seasonal influenza vaccine. The vaccines are free to seniors with Medicare Part B. Accepted insurance companies are Aetna, Humana, Medicare RR, United Mine Workers of America, Coventry Health Care, Cigna, United Health Care and Three Rivers Health.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. a seminar on the warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease will be offered.  “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s” is a seminar that cannot be missed. Dr. Jon Salisbury of Visiting Physician Services will educate participants on the warning signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. An experienced physician, Dr. Salisbury has been making house calls since 1994. If you or someone you know is concerned with loss of memory or memory problems related to other health issues, Dr. Salisbury will answer your questions.

All programs are free and open to all Monmouth County residents, but registration is required. To register, please call 732-303-2828.

The Monmouth County Connection is located in the strip mall at 3544 State Highway 66 in Neptune, adjacent to the Home Depot and across the street from Walmart. The office offers a variety of services including passports, passport photos, free notary public, veterans’ IDs, election/voter information, senior and veterans’ services, public access computers, and more.

The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The County Connection is under the direction of County Clerk M. Claire French and is supported by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
