Colts Neck High School Recognized By Freeholders For Fundraising Efforts

D10CColts Neck High School sophomore William Dean ended his summer vacation by organizing a fundraiser that would benefit not only his Navy Junior ROTC unit, but also the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation. William, who is a Third Class Petty Officer in the Freehold Regional High School District’s Navy Junior ROTC Academy, hosted a barbecue at his family’s home in August with food provided by Dan Duffy, the owner of the Cracked Olive in Holmdel. The fundraiser brought in $12,250 for the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Holmdel and $5,400 for the NJROTC unit. About 150 people attended the event.

To honor William’s accomplishment, the Monmouth County Freeholders recognized the young man at their meeting on October 13, where he was presented with a certificate of recognition.
