The mission of the Colts Neck Alliance for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse is to provide prevention of substance abuse through education. In meeting its goals, the Alliance has donated funding to the Colts Neck Library for the purchase of books. The Alliance gets its funding through Drug Enforcement and Demand Reduction funds (DEDR) through the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (GCADA). This September, the library displayed some of the new acquisitions in conjunction with Prevention Month.
The Colts Neck Alliance has made three such donations since 2006, and over 200 books have been put into circulation. These books are clearly marked and a complete list of the collection is contained in a notebook at the library. This collection benefits the community by focusing on addiction of drugs and alcohol. Some topics include prevention and coping skills for young people, as well as parenting books. Please stop by the library and check out the collection. The library is open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
