Shrewsbury Garden Club Celebrates 60th Anniversary

The Shrewsbury Garden Club (SGC) invites everyone to join them for their 60th Anniversary Luncheon Celebration on Tuesday, December 6 at the Salt Creek Grill in Rumson. The luncheon will feature a special presentation by noted landscape designer, garden coach, and speaker Mary Stone. As the author of a weekly gardening advice column “Garden Dilemmas? Ask Mary!,” she will present “The Dos and Don’ts of Garden and Landscape Design,” a humorous and revealing look into what to do and not to do when creating  beautiful design, the basis of garden joy. Feel free to bring your own garden dilemmas or ideas to share.

The luncheon celebration is part of the club’s year-long anniversary celebration, appropriately themed “All That We Are: A Celebration of 60 Years of Growth and Harvest.” The SGC has a number of interesting talks, trips, and hands-on demonstrations planned for the coming year, including “Soaps and Scrubs,” making organic soap, on Tuesday, January 17; “Cooking up a Winter Medley” with Shrewsbury’s own Chef Covas, on Tuesday, February 21; and “Wild Birds Unlimited,” attracting birds to your backyard, on Tuesday, March 21. The club is also planning a trip to the Leonard J. Buck Garden in Somerset County in May. The SGC welcomes all interested Shrewsbury residents to join them at any of their regularly scheduled meetings and specially planned excursions throughout the year.
