NEW PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes Book Discussion – November 7 at 3:00 p.m. In conjunction with The Big Read, discuss the children’s book, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr.

Birds, Books, and Bills – November 8 at 11:00 a.m. Come join Mr. David and Ms. Joanne from Wild Birds Unlimited to learn about all the different types of bird beaks there are, and then make your own beak mask to take home. For grades K-5.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow with Miss Kitty – November 9 at 3:00 p.m. In Sleepy Hollow, 1788,  Katrina Van Tassle reveals the secret adventure of Ichabod Crane. Hobgoblins abound, skeletons high-step in a graveyard dance, and even Rip Van Winkle makes an appearance in this spooky, but not scary, Halloween tale. Registration is required for both children and adults. Ages 5 and up.

Flow Circus: Read Yourself Silly! – November 11 at 1:30 p.m. Students will be inspired to read as Paul tells the story of how a trip to the circus led him on an adventure filled with juggling, magic, and balloon sculpting. In the end, he learns that amazing journeys begin not at the circus, but at the library. Ages 5 and up.

ScienceStarts – November 14 at 4:00 p.m. Investigate and invent with your 4-6 year old and any siblings. Families will participate in hands-on science activities, as well as a storytime featuring books related to the activities

Crafternoon: Thankful Trees on November 13 at 2:00 p.m. and Creative Corner Bookmarks on November 25 at 4:00 p.m. Create fun crafts to take home. Ages 6 and up.

Maker Monday – November 21 at 3:45 p.m. We’ll have some scienc-y items, some things to make, and other fun items to tinker with. Ages 6 and up.

Family Movie Day: The BFG – November 26 at 2:00 p.m. The library will be showing the 2017 movie, based on the children’s book by Roald Dahl.

Nature Presentation with Live Animals – November 30 at 3:00 p.m. The Monmouth County Park System will bring some live animals for their nature presentation. Ages 4 and up.

DROP-IN PROGRAMS

Homework help, develop a skill, or drop in for fun creative crafts. The library offers Lapsit Storytime for prewalkers, Kids Playgroup, Simply Storytime, Math Tutoring and Reading Buddies, Lego building, and chess.
