“Eat, Drink, & Be Giving” was the theme of the annual major fundraising event of the A Child’s Place Scholarship Fund held on December 3 at The Belmonte in Red Bank, and eating, drinking, and generous giving were indeed witnessed that night. In a change of direction this year, the new board president and parent Rebecca Baretz, together with co-chairs Jessie Lauter and Tara DeSerio, decided to move away from a formal fundraising dinner. Instead, a
highly successful informal cocktail party was enjoyed by approximately 95 parents, staff, and supporters of A Child’s Place School in Lincroft.
Apart from the spectacular array of raffle baskets available, the live auction generated much activity, laughter, and generosity from the attendees, aided by the enthusiastic and comedic auctioneers Mariano DiFabio and Amy Monahan, both parents at A Child’s Place School. Skill (or maybe just good luck) was required at the Wine Ring-Toss game, and the photo booth recorded many memories of an evening well spent with friends both old and new.
Since its inception in 1990, the school’s scholarship fund has raised over $522,000 to help local families send their children to A Child’s Place School, for young children ages three to seven years old. More information may be found at www.achildsplaceschool.com.
