Some of the brightest students at Cedar Drive Middle School recently put their academic skills on display at an academic tournament held at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology at Sandy Hook, and, as they have in years past, they represented their school admirably, as the school’s highest-ranked team brought home a third-place trophy.
“All members of our academic team performed very well, considering it was the first competition for many of the students,” said the team’s advisor and eighth grade social studies teacher Andrew Czerwinski.
In the academic tournament, the students who made up four teams for Cedar Drive competed against students from 24 other middle schools across Monmouth County. Members of the highest-ranked Cedar Drive team were Om Balar, Luke Procyk, Zain Salloum, Kavita Shah, and Megan Smith.
Topics for the competition included a wide range of subjects, including math, history, science, and pop culture. During the competition, members of the Cedar Drive team were resplendent in their new blue and yellow polo shirts, thanks to a grant from the Colts Neck PTO. The team will be competing in several additional competitions later this school year.
Well-deserved congratulations to some of the brightest all-stars at Cedar Drive, who shined brightest at the MAST Academic Bowl.
